However, manual transmissions can go a lot longer without a fluid flush or change, or even a top up. One of the biggest sources of confusion is the difference between a flush and change. Most people assume them to be the same thing. However, transmission oil flush and fluid changes are two different things. Let’s look at how often you should have the transmission fluid flushed:

There are many theories as to how often you should get the transmission fluid flushed. In an ideal situation, you should have the fluid flushed every 10,000 miles. You can do it before this mark or a little after. If you want a benchmark as to when the fluid should be flushed, it is best to refer to the manufacturer’s maintenance guide. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to the last detail. Flushing the transmission will remove the old fluid from it.
