2005 Nissan Pathfinder Transmission Problems | Charlotte NC

The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is an exceptional Crossover Utility Vehicle. The vehicle is outstanding in many aspects. It performs well on the highway as well as on rough terrain and provides great gas mileage. Except for the transmission issues, the Pathfinder is undoubtedly one of the best CUVs ever manufactured. Let’s look at some of the most common issues that arose in the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder:

Grinding Noise When Shifting Gears

The transmission issue that was experienced after a few thousand miles was grinding and vibrations while shifting. This could be heard all the time and many drivers thought it to be quite normal. This issue was present in the Pathfinder’s transmission regardless of what conditions the car was being driven in. Whether it was going uphill or on a straight road, the gears would shudder while shifting. This vibration and grinding was so intense that it could be heard throughout the car. Shortly after this symptom was displayed, the transmission would give way completely and become ineffectual.

Warming Up Of the Engine

The only way a car can deliver optimum performance is if the engine heats up to the right temperature. It may come as a surprise, but the transmission of the Pathfinder didn’t allow the engine to properly heat up. This was an issue with the design of the transmission. If the engine doesn’t heat up to the required operating temperature, it won’t deliver optimum performance. Due to this, the Pathfinder suffering from transmission issues would not run properly. Drivers would often face loss of power in the transmission as well.

Inconsistent Gear Shifting

One of the worst problems in the Pathfinder’s transmission was premature gear shifting. If this was constant, you could notice it, but it was not. The gear shifting was inconsistent. Sometimes the gears would shift at the right moment. On the other hand, there were times when the gears would not shift and the engine would keep revving.
