Rebuilt Transmission Charlotte NCThe Transmission is one of the most complicated parts of your vehicle. Inside one transmission contains hundreds of parts, ranging from gears, seals, valves, gaskets, clutches, clutch disks, and many other transmission components. But what happens when a transmission fails, gears start slipping, or your car won’t move? What does a rebuilt transmission cost and what is done when a transmission is rebuilt?

As Charlotte NC ‘s best-rebuilt transmission specialist. We have been rebuilding all types of transmissions for over 30 years, ranging from Honda Accords to Ford Explorers (all makes and model vehicles.)

Rebuilt Transmission Process
The rebuilt transmission process can be very time-consuming. The labor required to rebuild a transmission varies depending on the type of vehicle and transmission itself. Rebuilding a transmission should only be left to a specialist in this field.

First, the transmission is removed from the vehicle. Then the transmission is completely disassembled. The fluids are drained and all the parts are inspected. The parts are cleaned completely during an inspection. Internal parts that are replaced are friction lined clutches, bands, seals, bushings, gaskets, molded rubber pistons, filters, and sealing rings. (These parts are called “soft parts” and should always be replaced with any transmission rebuild). Components replaced are updated with new quality parts.

Other components, referred to as “hard parts”, are replaced when they do not meet critical tolerance limits or are high failure rate items for the particular application. “Hard Parts” are transmission parts that in general should not wear out, but do sometimes, therefore requiring replacement upon a rebuild job. Sometimes the wear is very obvious, but other times it is discovered only during the disassembly and inspection of a rebuild in process. If hard part components do need to be replaced, this can often add to the cost of the rebuilt transmission, since this is an additional item in the transmission rebuild process. Hard Parts to a transmission include front pump assemblies, Sprag clutches, Clutch Drums, Planetary Gears, Shafts, transmission case, Transmission Sun gears, Clutch hubs and much more.

After parts have been cleaned, inspected, replaced as needed — the entire transmission is reassembled. New transmission fluid and transmission testing complete the process.

Rebuilt Transmissions have the potential to restore a vehicle’s transmission to peak operational efficiency and to result in a long-lasting transmission. A vehicle with a rebuilt transmission can often time be driven for thousands and thousands of miles, even for the life of the vehicle in some cases, before requiring any further transmission repair.

Signs of a transmission problem, such as gears not shifting properly, loss of gears, a car will not move, red fluid leaking underneath the vehicle — these can all result in a transmission repair or rebuilt transmission. As the rebuilt transmission specialist in Charlotte, NC we can determine if you are in need of a transmission repair. If you think you have a transmission problem, please contact us at 704-821-3460 for a transmission diagnosis. All diagnosis’ is free with repair.
